U.S. Embassy Compound, Monrovia, Liberia
The Monrovia Embassy compound includes a new office building, maintenance and warehouse facilities, marine security guard quarters, a helicopter landing zone and office annexes. The project is registered with the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) and is pending LEED Gold certification. The building site is located on a rocky coastline with significant sloping elevation. H&A’s engineering team utilized supplemental earth grounding systems in response to this challenge. Some of the LEED components include a central plant combined heat and power system, solar energy collection and an electrical power generation system. The design-build team included B.L. Harbert International and architect PageSoutherlandPage.
