Cotton Incorporated

Cotton Incorporated’s tagline is "Building the Market for Cotton through Research and Promotion." For the organization’s new world headquarters, the design team aimed to reinforce this mission with the physical design of the facilities.

H&A planned the 125,000 SF headquarters, located in Cary, North Carolina, with two distinct buildings, a 36,600 SF corporate headquarters with a ceremonial lobby and traditional styling, and a 88,400 SF laboratory.

An enclosed pedestrian bridge connects the buildings and provides a transition from the formal ambiance of the headquarters to the colorful, industrial tones of the labs. A circulating corridor and floor-to-ceiling glass walls allow visitors to observe the research, while bright patches of carpet and tile indicate major tour stops.
