Senior Associate/Life Safety Department Head

Paul began his career in fire protection engineering after earning his bachelors in mechanical engineering. He worked as a fire protection consultant in the industrial insurance industry before moving to the A/E industry where his life safety consulting skills were honed. He was co-founder and CEO of a fire protection and security engineering firm in northern Virginia prior to joining H&A.

Paul came to H&A in the summer of 2006 with the task of growing a true life safety department from the former plumbing/fire protection group. Starting with two very talented fire protection engineers and one designer, he expanded the services offered by the group to include building code and life safety consulting, computational-fluid-dynamics fire modeling, special suppression systems design, automatic sprinkler system design, and fire alarm and mass notification systems design.

Paul has used the skills that he gained while earning his MBA from the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh (2002) to direct the growth of the life safety department. Within the first five years of its existence, the life safety department grew from the original core group of four to 18 people. Fire protection engineering and code consulting are now core services of H&A.
